My Favorite Makeup Brushes!

I've been getting asked frequent questions about my Makeup Brushes. Which ones are my favorite & what brushes people should buy. I thought I would just put together an article on my most used & Favorite brushes for you. Hopefully this will help you decide what brushes to have in your collection!
In my Collection I mainly use Makeup Geek (MUG) brushes, I find them to be high quality without the marked up price. I have some must have M.A.C brushes & some generic/drugstore brand as well in my kit. These are my go to brushes!!!

EYE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MUG Stiff Dome Brush
$7.99 (US)
What MUG has to say about it:
"This works great as a dupe of MAC's 217 Brush. (it is a bit more tapered than the MAC 217, however) It's perfect for creating a smokey eye. It is one of Marlena's favorite brushes!"
What I have to say about it:
This is even better then the M.A.C 217 brush ($27 CA). The head is a little smaller which is perfect for my eye. I love this brush for blend cream base all over the lid and blending out harsh lines. This is one of my Favorites and I owe a few of these!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MUG Soft Dome Brush
$7.49 (US)
What MUG has to say about it:
"This sable dome brush is perfect for blending out the crease, softening any harsh lines, or even dusting set powder under the eyes. The hairs are super soft and gentle on the skin!"

What I have to say about it:
This brush is very similar to M.A.C 224 brush ($36.50). Just like the stiff dome brush, the head on this is a little smaller then the 224 which is perfect for everyone. I find that the M.A.C one is just too large! Another great use for this brush is to apply a litter concealer under the eyes to clean up any mess left behind from shadow or just for a little extra coverage!This brush is really super soft!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MUG Bent Liner Brush
$3.49 (US)
What MUG has to say about it:
"This bent liner brush is similar to the Sonia Kashuk version, but the hairs aren't quite as defined. A great alternative and applies gel liners perfectly!"
What I have to say about it:
This makes appling gel liner and making your winged liner a BREEZE. The bent in the brush helps give you extra contorl when apply on product. I haven't compared it to another brush but I'm fully satisfied with it and never felt the need to try another!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MUG Outer V Brush
$5.99 (US)

What MUG has to say about it:
"This red sable dome brush is the perfect size for defining that outer V or for creating that smoky eye! Is a small version of MAC's #217 brush.
(This is formerly known as the "Deluxe Outer V Brush")
Professional quality brush with super durable and soft bristles!"

What I have to say about it:
My Absolute Favorite!!!! This brush is perfect for just about anything when it comes to shadow! You can achieve a total eye look with only this one brush!!! This one is a must have for your collection! I'm a huge fan of creating the outer V in almost all my looks! I love the dimension it gives to the overall look! I even use this brush for smudging out liner on the lid & lower lash line. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this brush! I need to get a couple more of these bad boys!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MUG Brow Brush Duo
$4.49 (US)
What MUG has to say about it:
"This 2 sided brush is perfect for filling in the brows! The spoolie side is for grooming the brows while the angled brush is for filling in sparse areas with powder."
What I have to say about it:
MUG pretty much summed it up! Super convenient to have the brush & spoolie together for making your brows look picture perfect!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
M.A.C 219 Pencil Brush
$29.50 (CA)

 219 Pencil Brush

What M.A.C has to say about it:
"For precision shading on lid, in eye crease or along lash line. The soft, smooth fibers of this brush are gathered into a pencil-shaped tip. It is ideal for blending eyeliner into eye shadow to create a smoky looking eye. M·A·C professional brushes are hand-sculpted and assembled using the finest quality materials."

What I have to say about:
I use this brush to smudge my eyeliner on my lid & lower lash (more often then not I'm grabbing my MUG Outer V Brush instead). I also love this for creating a defined crease (or cut crease). to save a little $$$ try MUG eye liner smudge brush $3.99(US)
I haven't gotten my hands on this one b/c I already had my 219, but I'm sure it works just the same!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
M.A.C 239 Flat Stiff Brush
$29.50 (CA)
239 Eye Shader Brush
What M.A.C has to say about it:
"Soft and dense to shade or blend eye shadow or emollient-based products. This brush has a tapered, rounded edge with smooth, firm, fine fibres. It can be used to build intense colour on the eyelid. M·A·C professional brushes are hand-sculpted and assembled using the finest quality materials."
What I have to say about it:
This is where I would definitely spend your $$$! This brush is the boss of all eye shadow brushes!!! I could not live without this one! You get full coverage of shadow on the lid with this brush with minimal
 fall out! You need to invest in this brush... you'll be fully satisfy with it and not feel ripped off!
Face
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What MUG has to say about it:
"This soft stippling brush is perfect for applying highlighter on top
of the cheeks! It is similar to the MAC #188 brush."

What I have to say about this brush:
The duo fiber brush is so soft and feels beautiful on the skin! It
applies the right amount of liquid and power highlighter on the
cheeks and bridge of the nose! Not a must have but I love it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MUG Blush Brush
$8.99 (US)
What MUG has to say about it:
"This angled blush brush is perfect for applying just the right
amount of color to the cheeks! Amazing quality brush with soft
bristles. Similar to the MAC #168 brush."
What I have to say about it:
Why spend $41 (CA) on a M.A.C brush that does the same as MUG $8.99 brush! the only difference is the M.A.C brush is larger! Save your $$$ and go the MUG route.
$8.29 (US)
What MUG has to say about it:
"This Italian Badger brush is the deluxe version of the Makeup
Geek Contour Brush. It creates dimension and slims the face by
applying darker powder under the cheekbones!"
What I have to say about it:
LOVE IT! You always see me use this guy in my tutorials!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MUG Foundation/Concealer Brush
http://www.makeupgeek.com/store/brushes/face-brushes/mug-foundation-and-concealer-brush.html
$9.99 (US)

What MUG has to say about it:
"New way to put on that beautiful face! This duo-ended brush has
the softest bristles yet! They do not absorb oils or products!
One end is a larger foundation brush to put on mass amounts of
foundation and the other end is the concealer brush to perfect that
flawless face"

What I have to say about it:
The convenient way to apply your foundation & concealer if you don't like to use your fingers. It's very soft on the skin.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BeautyBlender
http://www.makeupgeek.com/store/brushes/tools/beauty-blender.html
Single $18.99 (US)
Double pk $23.99 (US)
What MUG has to say about it:
beautyblender® is the first ergonomically designed non-disposable
sponge applicator that allows you to flawlessly apply your makeup.
It's designed to be cleaned with its partner blendercleanser®—
making it super eco-friendly. It comes with an instruction disc so
you can quickly master your application technique
What I have to say about it:
You must own this!!! If you want to achieve that air brush finish to
your skin this perfect for you!!! The double pack is a value! Plus
you can use this product for three months! All you do is cleanse it
and reuse it! This is perfect to blending out blush if you applied it
with a heavy hand!
There you have it! My most used and favorite brushes!!! I hope
that this helped you along your way in building your Brush
Collection! For a side note I was not paid by Makeup Geek to write
this. If you have been following me from the beginning you know
my favorite brushes have always been MUG!!! I seriously think
that they will become your as well.
Happy Makeup-ing
